In 2003 Les Harper was approached by his Parish
Priest (Father Laurie
Pearson,
St Thomas More, Mt Eliza) to attend a talk given
by Father Trans on the great difficulties faced by
his country, East Timor.
With the generous assistance of many people,
(organisations, schools, churches, businesses and individuals) we have been
able to assist the East Timorese beyond our wildest dreams.
ACHIEVEMENTS TO DATE
SCHOOLS
- We completed a new school at Nunira
and are currently working on the refurbishing and building of a new school
at Bercoli near Venilale and refurbishing a school at Mehara which is near
Los Palos.
- The funds for the Bercoli and Mehara
are in the main from a very generous benefactor; Patrick Browne who died in
September 2007.
CONTAINERS
- To date we have shipped twelve 20ft
containers to East Timor, filled with rice and lentils to feed the children;
building materials; a 12KVA generator, school furniture, balls, bikes,
clothing etc.
DENTAL CLINICS
- Two dental clinics have been
installed. One is in Los Palos and the other is in Licquisa.

SALESIAN ORDER ASSISTANCE
We have been able to achieve much of the above with the
generous assistance of Brother Michael Lynch and many other members of the
Salesian Order. This has ensured our efforts have not gone to waste or been
exploited.
TAX DEDUCTIBILITY
We are able to provide donors with a “tax deduction”
receipt if required.
Through the Salesian “Tax Concession Charity”
we can
provide “tax deductible receipts”.
OUR MEDIUM TERM GOALS
To take on the building of a fourth school in East Timor
in a deprived village.
To find other organisations and individuals prepared to
take on similar goals.
To
assist individuals in becoming involved in a charitable work to the level of
their ability to give.
